N301FD is an AgustaWestland AW-139 operated by the Los Angeles Fire Department in Los Angeles, California. The LAFD helicopter fleet is comprised of medium and light helicopters and is staffed 24/7 by a crew of pilots, aeromedics, and helitack personnel to meet a variety of emergency response requests. The primary mission of LAFD Air Operations includes fire suppression, air ambulance transport, high rise fire response, and hoist rescues.
Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6C-67C turboshaft engines, the aircraft has a maximum speed of 193 mph and a range of 659 miles. Additional technology includes a Honeywell Primus Epic fully integrated avionics system, a 4-axis digital AFCS, and large flat panel color displays in the cockpit. When configured for the fire fighting role, a 480 gallon Simplex water tank is attached to the bottom of the aircraft.
