N419MA is a Bell 222UT owned and operated by Air Methods Corporation and based at Hemet-Ryan Airport (HMT) in Hemet, California. The Bell 222 was the first light commercial twin-turbine helicopter developed in the United States and incorporated a number of advanced features including dual hydraulic and electrical systems, and the Noda Matic vibration reduction system. The Bell 222UT (Utility Twin) featured a skid landing gear, which allowed larger auxiliary fuel tanks, and approved for single pilot IFR operation. Powered by twin Lycoming/Honeywell LTS101 turboshaft engines, the aircraft’s top speed is 155 mph with a range of 386 nmi and a service ceiling of 15,800 ft.
