N505HB is a Bell 505 operated by the Butte County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and based at Oroville Municipal Airport (KOVE) in Oroville, California.
The aircraft is powered by a single Safran Arrius 2R turboshaft generating 505 shp for a top speed of 145 mph and a range of 385 miles. The cockpit is equipped with the Garmin G1000H glass avionics suite, and a cargo hook is installed for short hauling personnel and cargo.
The aviation unit supports ground patrol units by aiding in on-view or in-progress crime responses, including locating suspects involved in serious offenses, conducting pursuits, and performing surveillance. Additionally, they collaborate with the Special Enforcement Unit and Special Weapons and Tactics team during operations, and provide other services including search and rescue, firefighting, critical infrastructure inspections, surveys related to fire and natural disaster management.
